Arriving By Seaplane

While more expensive, taking a seaplane to Lopez Island is a breathtaking experience.

The airline is called Kenmore Air and flights leave from South Lake Union in Seattle (or ​Kenmore Air Harbor in the north tip of Lake Washington).

They land directly in Fisherman Bay on Lopez Island and the views are stunning the whole way. 

The flight takes about 40 minutes and costs about $160/person one-way.

They have multiple flights per day (every two hours or so) and offer free shuttles direct from SeaTac - they will even time your flight arrival and have a van waiting for you!

Seaplane Pro-Tips

• Pack light! There's a weight restriction of 50 lbs per bag since you are in a seaplane. Be sure to check the weight restrictions if you are bringing bulky or heavy luggage. 

• Know someone on the island! This mode of travel is a great option if you are meeting people on Lopez who can pick you up. But you definitely want a car or bike on Lopez during your stay. Conveniently there's a bike shop that rents bicycles just across from where the seaplane drops you off on the island. 

• Make an early reservation! Despite the cost the summer months fill up.
